The ghost of Sasuma's recipe
Forty years ago, Madhavi Bhabhi's mother-in-law took the secret achar masala to the grave. She never left the kitchen.
Every night the jars rattle, the papad turns itself over on the terrace, and the masala tastes just a little better by morning. Bhabhi stopped arguing with the ghost and made her the head of quality control.
Sasuma's rule: no preservatives, no shortcuts, and no touching the mustard oil after dark.
